Animation, as we use the word in this category, is the rapid display of a sequence of images, creating the illusion of movement. An animated television program utilizes this illusion to tell a story, or set of stories, within an allotted period of time over a series of episodes; the level of continuity within a series will vary considerably, from the highly decompressed narrative of Dragonball Z to the largely continuity-free shorts of Looney Tunes.
